Actor Sunny Deol has been enjoying Gadar 2’s success. Recently, a video of him scolding a fan at an airport had gone viral, bringing a lot of negative attention towards the actor. However, Sunny said that he expects fans to be more understanding while interacting with him in public, and that he doesn’t harbour ill-will towards anybody.

In the video, Sunny could be seen walking briskly at an airport, when a fan approached him for a selfie. He slowed down, but when the fan took longer than expected to click the picture, Sunny appeared to lose his patience. In a podcast with Ranveer Allahbadia, the actor tried to explain that constant travel and physical strain can get to him, and sometimes fans don’t understand that.

Addressing the incident, Sunny said, “Sometimes what happens is that I am constantly running around. I also got a catch in my back recently, but still, I am at it and I have to go along with it. So many times it has happened that I am in pain but still have to keep moving.”

Talking about the connection he has with fans, the actor further explained, “Obviously fans love you, and you share that with them. A lot of times, even when it (selfie) is done, they don’t move away. So at that time, I am not thinking if someone is recording me, and what I’m thinking is, ‘Let me carry on. Please try and understand’. There is an emotional connection with fans.”

When asked if certain people try to take advantage of these moments and target him, Sunny said, “Whoever wants to edit and present it like that does it, and those who are doing it are having fun, so let them have fun. I am not going to change because of that. I have not done something wrong.”

Many netizens commented that Gadar 2’s success has gone to the star’s head. He said, “I didn’t do anything wrong, and if I had, I would have told him (the fan), ‘I have made a mistake, please forgive me. At that time, my mind was in such a space, please try and understand.'” If ever Sunny meets that fan again, he said his reaction would be different. “I would hug him and tell him that I didn’t mean it.'”

Gadar 2 brought back Sunny and Ameesha Patel as Tara Singh and Sakeena. The cross-border action drama, directed by Anil Sharma, has been entertaining fans in theatres since August 11. The film is the second biggest box office hit after Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan this year.
