(Photo: Instagram/Sunita Ahuja Rumours of a separation between Govinda and his wife Sunita Ahuja started doing the rounds after she commented that they live separately. However, in a recent interaction, Sunita clarified her statement and also explained why she was against Govinda entering politics.
Speaking to Zoom, Sunita said, “I wasn’t happy when he joined politics just because his brother told him to. I always tell Govinda to focus on his own work, and politics isn’t his job. I’ve seen many actors, but not all can handle everything. If he doesn’t go to parliament, people will talk. That’s what happened.”
Sunita Ahuja shared that since Govinda joined politics, she and her children lost their freedom and had to be surrounded by security. She claimed that this affected their son Yash’s childhood. “My son faced problems in school, and we had to arrange security. He told me also to keep tight security around, but I said I don’t need to be told; I can take care of my own security. This affects the children a lot when they can’t do things freely. Yash’s childhood went by like this, which isn’t good.”
Sunita admitted that after Govinda entered politics, they started seeing a lot of guests at home for political meetings, which disrupted the children’s privacy as they all used to live in a flat. “It was during that time that we decided to live separately so the children could have some freedom. When he became an MP, we all lived in a flat, and I asked him to buy a house next door for his political meetings and people started asking why we lived separately,” she said.
Sunita Ahuja blamed it on the media for twisting her words and for spreading rumours of their separation. She said, “But the media twisted it, saying I’m living separately from Govinda. I didn’t say anything wrong; it’s just that the house was small, and with so many visitors, the kids couldn’t even watch TV. I advised him to buy a bungalow, and that’s what we did.”
Govinda and Sunita tied the knot 1987. The couple have a daughter, Tina Ahuja, and a son, Yashvardhan.
