Stree 2 box office collection day 26: Rajkummar Rao-Shraddha Kapoor film Rs 50 cr shy of beating Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan, emerging as highest earning Hindi movie ever 

The all-language collection of Jawan was Rs 640 cr, a figure which Stree 2 won’t be able to cross. The other records which will also be safe are the worldwide collections of Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal (Rs 915 cr), Pathaan (Rs 1050 cr) and Jawan Rs 1,100 cr. Stree 2’s global collections are under Rs 760 cr so far.

Stree 2 is now neck to neck with Jawan as of current trending and in fact recorded a better fourth weekend than the Shah Rukh Khan-Atlee actioner. While Jawan had held the record of the highest fourth weekend at Rs 22.30 cr, Stree 2 netted Rs 24 cr, beating it comfortably. The fourth Monday hold, despite no holiday, has also set the course for the film to run at a steady lower level throughout the week and record huge jump again on the fifth weekend.

What is hugely benefiting Stree 2 is the lack of any new releases at the box office. Though the film had clashed with Akshay Kumar’s Khel Khel Mein and John Abraham’s Vedaa on August 15, the film faced no other competition. With a free run of an entire month, Stree 2 will finally face Kareena Kapoor’s The Buckingham Murders this Friday, but it is unlikely that the Hansal Mehta film will dent its showcasing.

Stree2 will then face Siddhant Chaturvedi-Malavika Mohanan starrer Yudhra at the box office, which again is unlikely to stop the film’s momentum. The only big release of the month, JR NTR-Janhvi Kapoor’s Devara, will open in cinemas on September 27, by when Stree 2 would have created more records.
