It’s no secret that Shahid Kapoor and his wife Mira Rajput first met through an arranged setup since they follow the same faith — of Radha Soami Satsang Beas. Shahid has now claimed that they keep visiting its spiritual headquarters on the bankers of River Beas, have homes there, and is their most favourite place in the world, even above their Mumbai home.

“We keep visiting Beas. Mira’s parents have a home there, and so do we. We find everything there. It’s like our home. It’s very close to our heart. It’s the loveliest place in the whole world, even more than our (Mumbai) home,” Shahid confessed recently. He added that he’s taken naam at the age of 25, and so has Mira. He revealed he turned vegetarian at the age of 19.

On a podcast on the YouTube channel Punjab’s First Voice, Shahid recalled his first meeting with Mira. “We met for the first time in Delhi. I was 33 and she was 20, so there was quite an age gap. We both used to think what we’d even talk about, given I’m an actor and she’s recently graduated from college,” said Shahid.

He added that they “were happy to meet” each other despite the reservations since they believed their families had thought it through. “We got along when we met. We spent some four to five hours talking to each other. We met at someone’s place. Our families were also there,” recalled Shahid.

He revealed that his biggest draw towards Mira is that she’s religious. “She has a very strong faith towards her guru. Her family’s values are very nice. She’s very unaffected. She’s what she is. Even when she moved to Mumbai with me after my marriage, it never felt like she was trying to change herself. She’s evolved naturally. So, I like all of that,” added Shahid.

Today, RSSB holds meetings in more than 90 countries worldwide, as per its official website. “To build on the primary spiritual practice of meditation, members are vegetarian, abstain from alcohol, tobacco, and recreational drugs, and are expected to lead a life of high moral values,” its website states.

Shahid and Mira tied the knot in 2015. They’re parents to two kids — daughter Misha, 9, and son Zain, 7. Mira, now an entrepreneur, recently expressed her gratitude towards Shahid for encouraging her in her early days in Mumbai. “Sometimes, self-belief comes from within, but other times, there’s someone who tells you, ‘You’ve got this.’ He has always been that voice. Every time I’ve had crazy ideas, he has understood what it takes. He’s like the wind beneath my wings—constantly saying, ‘You got this, do it,'” Mira said on Masoom Minawala’s podcast.
