Sooraj Pancholi says ‘truth always wins’ as he is acquitted in Jiah Khan case, her mother vows to ‘keep fighting’

On Friday, a special CBI court cleared actor Sooraj Pancholi of the charge of abetting the suicide of actor Jiah Khan in 2013. After the verdict, Pancholi took to Instagram to react to the verdict.

Actor Sooraj Pancholi was cleared of all the charges in the abetment of the suicide of actor Jiah Khan in 2013 by a special CBI court. After the court gave its verdict, Pancholi reacted to his acquittal on social media.

Jiah Khan was found dead at her home in Mumbai on June 3, 2013. She was 25. Pancholi, who was once in a relationship with Khan, was facing the charge under section 306 (abetment of suicide) of the Indian Penal Code.

Taking to his Instagram account, Pancholi wrote, “The Truth always wins! #GodIsGreat.” The actor attended the court along with mother Zarina Wahab.

Jiah’s mother Rabia Khan talked to the media after the verdict and said that though Pancholi has been cleared of abetment charge, “The case of murder is still there.” She told CNN News 18, “This is a case of murder. The abetment to suicide case has gone but the murder case is still there. I will not give up hope.. I will keep fighting. I will approach the High Court, Supreme Court, whatever is required to get justice for my daughter.” Pancholi was arrested in the case and was later released on bail.

After her death, Jiah Khan’s family members found a six-page letter at their house written by the Nishabd actor. In it, she had written about being cheated on and even raped after which had to undergo an abortion.

Jiah Khan made her Bollywood debut with Ram Gopal Verma’s Nishabd where she was cast opposite Amitabh Bachchan. She was also seen in Aamir Khan’s Ghajini and in Sajid Khan’s Housefull.
