Palash Muchhal hospitalised due to ‘stress-related distress’ after wedding with Smriti Mandhana postponed, to be discharged soon, says doctor

(Photo: Instagram/Palaash Muchhal)Hours after Indian women’s cricketer Smriti Mandhana’s father, Shrinivas Mandhana, was discharged from the hospital in Sangli, her fiance, music composer Palash Muchhal, is also expected to get discharged from the hospital in Mumbai on Wednesday. After initially receiving treatment in Sangli, Palash travelled to Mumbai and continued treatment at SRV Hospital in Goregaon. Doctors treating him at the hospital have said that the music composer was hospitalised after complaining of chest discomfort, as per a report in Mid-day. The report, on Wednesday evening, said that he was stable and likely to be discharged soon.
Palash was admitted due to stress-related issues
Giving a health update, Dr Dipendra Tripathi told the publication, “Muchhal’s condition appears to be linked to stress-related distress rather than a serious cardiac event.”
The report states that Palash complained of severe chest pain, uneasiness, and difficulty breathing. Immediate medical tests, including cardiac investigations such as an ECG and a 2D echocardiography, were conducted. “While certain levels were found to be slightly elevated, there was no indication of a major cardiac or medical emergency. As a basic line of treatment in such cases, oxygen therapy was started immediately,” he said. After the tests, Palash was shifted to a general room and kept under close observation. The report added that he is expected to get discharged soon as his condition is now stable.
Palash was first hospitalised in Smriti’s hometown, Sangli, shortly after their wedding was indefinitely postponed because her father, Shrinivas, fell ill and had to be admitted to the hospital. Shrinivas was reportedly discharged on Wednesday morning. Despite Smriti’s father being discharged and Palash also making a quick recovery and expected to be discharged soon, their wedding still remains postponed.
Palash’s cousin defends him
Palash’s sudden departure from Sangli sparked speculation about trouble in their relationship. This was followed by Smriti deleting all wedding-related posts from Instagram, while several of her teammates from the Indian cricket team also deleted wedding posts.
Amid the rumours, Palash’s cousin, Neeti Tak, took to Instagram Stories to defend him. She wrote: “Palash is going through a critical condition today. You all should not judge him without knowing the truth… Technology has come far ahead of humans, and people should not form opinions based on rumours. Pray for him.”
‘Palash cried so much that he fell ill’
In an earlier chat with Hindustan Times, Palash’s mother Amita had shared that Palash was very fond of Smriti’s father, Shrinivas. The news of his ill health deeply shocked him, prompting the decision to postpone the wedding. She said, “He cried so much that his health suddenly deteriorated. They kept him in the hospital for four hours. He was given an IV drip, an ECG was done, and other tests were carried out. Everything came back normal, but he is under a lot of stress.”
