Siddharth Anand advises filmmakers to not ‘resist’ Hrithik Roshan’s suggestions, says he won’t even take credit: ‘He won’t go on camera and say…’

Siddharth Anand shared that Hrithik Roshan thinks not as an actor but as a director. He also said that the actor is not the one to claim credit for his inputs in a film.

Filmmaker Siddharth Anand recently reacted to criticism around him not using stars like Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone to their full potential in his latest film Fighter. He also revealed how Hrithik thinks not as an actor but as a director and gave many inputs during the shoot of the aerial actioner. However, Siddharth also said that the actor is not the one to claim credit for his input.

In a new interview, Siddharth mentioned that he didn’t want to bring the ‘stardom’ of Hrithik and Deepika in the way of their ‘realistic’ on-screen characters, Patty and Mini. He told Gallata Plus, “I have kept the scenes deliberately very real. Of course, when you have Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone, you want to heighten the romance and use their stardom, but I wanted to use them only as Patty and Mini and show how they would react.”

He also added that since Hrithik’s Patty had gone through so much in life and had certain ‘angst’ inside him, he didn’t want him to be “this guy who is flamboyantly romancing”. About Deepika’s Mini, Siddharth added, “Mini has a lot of self-respect and is very headstrong, so she is not going to show her emotions. So, the dynamism of the characters is what the audience is enjoying.”

During the conversation, Siddharth Anand, who has also worked with Hrithik Roshan in his previous films War and Bang Bang, appreciated the actor’s vision to make the film a better product. He emphasised how Hrithik doesn’t focus only on his character but analyses every character deeply.

Siddharth shared, “I have a lot of instances where Hrithik has contributed. Even in War, he is a huge contributor in allevating Tiger’s (Shroff) character, Khalid. Whenever he would talk to me, it would be only about Khalid and that shows he has got a 360-degree purview on a film. He is not like a horse with blinders, only looking at his character.”

The director feels he and Hrithik are ‘collaborators’ who put in their best effort to improve their film. “I don’t look at him as an actor. He will have so many notes on everything. Strengthening everybody else is also a lot of his effort and his purview. Him wanting to develop an equation with Sanchi in the film (Fighter) is also him. He thinks like a director and not an actor. He becomes an actor only on set,” said Siddharth.

He concluded with a bit of advice to the filmmakers who would work with Hrithik Roshan in the future. He expressed, “As a director, my advice to other directors would be, ‘Don’t resist his engagement. Don’t look at it as a threat. He is only coming to improve your vision. You as a director have a powerful right, so don’t be afraid to hear suggestions. He is never going to go on camera and say, ‘Ye mera input hai.’”
