Shoojit Sircar, who is celebrating 20-year-long journey in cinema, shared glimpses from his upcoming untitled film starring Abhishek Bachchan

Be it the slice-of-life film Piku, the sensitively directed Yahaan which shows Kashmir and its people in a new light, Vicky Donor which cracks you up, October that leaves you with a sense of melancholy or Taapsee Pannu-starrer Pink, every story that Shoojit Sircar has told through his cinema, makes you marvel at his brilliance as a storyteller. The documentary filmmaker-turned-feature film director, who has clocked two glorious decades in the film industry, over the years, has beautifully turned ordinary stories into extraordinary tales through the magic of their lens. The director, who has been in the news for the much-anticipated film featuring Abhishek Bachchan, finally has some update for his fans.

Celebrating the milestone, the Nation Award-winning director’s production house, Rising Sun Films, shared a heartwarming video, encapsulating his 20-year-old journey as a filmmaker, on its social media handle, with a beautiful surprise for his fans. The video, which features glimpses of previous films such as Piku, Yahaan, Vicky Donor, Pink, Gulabo Sitabo, Sardar Udham and more, gave the audience a peek into his upcoming film with Abhishek, the details of which are still under wraps. The film is slated to hit the screens later in 2024.
Sharing the video, the production house, wrote, “Shoojit Sircar’s next is a heartwarming tale about the ‘celebration of life’ in its everyday ordinary chaos! It is an emotional journey with an entertaining narrative about a father and daughter who rekindle their precious bond while they navigate through life’s challenges. Shoojit’s films have always carried a legacy that is a cherished collection of moments that remind us to laugh, cry, fall in love and express all that’s within. His next compels us to discover the true value of life’s fleeting moments, learning to cherish each one. Coming to cinemas near you. Stay tuned! (sic)”
In an earlier conversation with PTI, the director had said, “It’s another emotional, slice-of-life film. My stories are always related to life and they have humour in them. I have always tried to experiment with different genres, keeping life’s journey as the main theme. I am collaborating with Abhishek Bachchan for my next film. I will take you on a mundane, ordinary man’s journey.”
