Shatrughan Sinha and Sanjay Khan’s fight at a party ended with gunshots, Zayed Khan says they are ‘very good friends now’: ‘It was a different time’

Refusing to share stories his dad told him, Zayed claimed, “Those were the times when camaraderie and celebration and friendship and misunderstandings (were common). Today Shatrughan Sinha and dad are very good friends. They are very close to the family. It was a different time and age when the incident happened.”

What happened between Shatrughan Sinha and Sanjay Khan?

Previously, actor Ranjeet told Vickey Lalwani about the incident as a part of the drama also took place at his house. He shared, “There was a party at some socialite’s place, which I was supposed to attend. People like Sanjay Khan, Zeenat Aman, Shatrughan Sinha, they were all present there. This was a phase when Sanjay was not doing good in business. His affair with Zeenat had just started. She was working with him in one of his films and also handling his finances for him.”

As Ranjeet couldn’t attend the party, he learnt from his friend that Shatrughan Sinha pinched Sanjay Khan’s cheek. The latter was not just Shatru’s senior in acting but also in age. This hurt Sanjay’s ego. He shared, “My friend told me that Shatrughan Sinha pinched Sanjay Khan’s cheek, which he didn’t take well, and he slapped him for that.” This was also the time when Shatrughan Sinha was in a relationship with Reena Roy, who too had a fight with Sanjay after that incident.

“Sanjay said if you want to deal with this, let’s get out of here, we cannot ruin someone else’s party.” They headed to Ranjeet’s house as they mostly hung out at his residence. “At that time, there was no phone to communicate. I was with my girlfriend and I didn’t want them to see her. I locked myself in the house. Suddenly, I heard gunshots being fired. Ultimately, they fired the shots in the air then they went to Sanjay Khan’s house, and fired shots there too. These were all Shatrughan’s friends. I was just waiting for them to leave so that I can drop off my girlfriend.”

After the incident, Ranjeet rushed to drop off his girlfriend. When he returned, he saw Sanjay Khan sitting in his house. The actor shared how Sanjay was furious that they fired gunshots. “He wanted to file a complaint. But, I suggested that he speak with them and resolve it internally and not make it a public thing. He agreed but said, make him apologise to me or else I will file a case.”

Ranjeet then arranged a meeting of the two actors at his home the next morning. But, the next morning, the police showed up along with Zeenat Aman and his lawyer. Sanjay had told the police that Shatrughan Sinha had ganged up to beat him up. “In the evening, I got to know that Prakash Mehra and Shatrughan Sinha were taken to the Santa Cruz police station. Dilip Kumar had to intervene. The next day news headlines read: ‘Murder was planned at Ranjeet’s residence.’ Eventually, things were resolved between the two.”
