Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan have been friends for over 30 years and during the early days of their movie careers, the two had quite a weird sense of humour. In a recent interview, Karan Arjun director Rakesh Roshan was asked about the time when Salman pretended to shoot at Shah Rukh following a staged argument, and Shah Rukh fell down, pretending that he had been hit by a bullet. Since the people around them were not aware of their skit, they were in shock.
In a chat with Galatta India, when Rakesh was asked about this particular incident, he recalled that this happened during one of the get togethers that the team would host in the evening after the shoot. “We used to have fun in the evenings. The whole unit would sit together. Salman aaya aur isne aise hi goli maar di aur Shah Rukh gir gaya (Salman came and he just casually shot a bullet, and Shah Rukh fell.)”
Rakesh recalled his first reaction after his incident and said, “Maine bola yeh kya kia hai? Yeh kya hua? (I asked what just happened?) They first argued with each other, they enacted the whole thing and we all were sitting.” Rakesh said that following this entire scene, Shah Rukh got up from the floor and Rakesh asked them to be wise about the kind of jokes they were playing, as this could have gotten serious.
“I remember I said aise mat kia karo yaar. Yeh koi mazak hai? (Don’t do this. Is this a joke?) This is a very serious thing. Someone might get a shock and die on the set. But they were kids at that time,” he recalled.
Salman, in an earlier appearance on Aap Ki Adalat, shared that he had borrowed a gun without any bullets from the action and was in a mood to pull a prank on everyone. “I told Shah Rukh, I’ll call you for dance, you refuse, and then we will engage in a scuffle, and here’s a blank gun. I will fire a shot at you and you will fall down. Shah Rukh said he was not in a mood, he was tired,” he recalled and added, “My brother Sohail was there. I pulled Shah Rukh’s hand, and he snatched away his hand. He pushed me, and I also pushed him, a scuffle ensued, I took out the gun and fired a shot at him. Shah Rukh did a somersault and fell down.”
Salman said that director Rakesh’s hands were “trembling” when this happened. “For ten minutes, I stood with red eyes, and said, ‘Koi nahi uthega, sabko maar dunga (No one will get up, I will kill everyone)’. Rakesh ji’s hands started trembling. I said, ‘Shah Rukh uth, Shah Rukh uth (Shah Rukh wake up). When Shah Rukh didn’t wake up, Sohail, Bhiku Da panicked. I checked my gun. Suddenly Shah Rukh started snoring. So, the Pathaan was at last alive. I again fired 3-4 shots, and everybody started laughing.”
