‘Salman Khan arrived on set at 3 pm, producer requested him to start working with folded hands’: Jason Shah recalls ‘koi kuch kaam nahi kar raha tha’

Heeramandi actor Jason Shah recalled being impressed with Salman Khan's relaxed attitude on set when he briefly worked with the star on the film Partner.

Actor Jason Shah, who was recently seen as the villainous Cartwright in the streaming series Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, spoke about being immediately attracted to the world of Bollywood after appearing as an extra in the Salman Khan-starrer Partner. In an interview, Jason said that he was impressed with Salman’s seemingly casual demeanour, and recalled how the star would roll up on set late in the afternoon, while the producer would request him to get some work done.

Chatting with Entertainment LIVE, Jason looked back on his journey before bagging the supporting role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s big-budget Heeramandi, which was released on Netflix on May 1. He said, “I started modelling when I was 17-18. I did a small scene in the song ‘Dupatta Tera Nau Rang Da’ in Partner. That’s where I was bitten by the acting bug. I wanted to live this amazing life.”

He continued, “Salman Khan aaya 3 baje dopahar mein apni motorbike pe, koi kuch kaam nahi kar raha, 4:30 baj raha hai, producer khada hai bol raha hai, ‘Sir, ek shot lelo’ (Salman Khan would arrive on set at 3 in the afternoon on his motorbike, nobody would do any work. At 4:30, the producer would request him with folded hands to do just one shot). I loved it. It looked like a relaxed life.”

This is not the first time that one of Salman’s co-stars has spoken about his tardiness. Incidentally, Partner also featured Govinda, whose own habitual tardiness has been well-documented over the years. In an interview with Bollywood Hungama last year, actor Kubbra Sait recalled that on the film Bodyguard, she waited for several hours on set having not eaten enough when Salman showed up in the afternoon and immediately called for lunch. In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, actor Grusha Kapoor recalled losing her patience when Salman showed up to set 10 hours late.
