More details about the attempted burglary at Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor’s Mumbai home have emerged. According to sources close to SCREEN, the attack took place in the room of Saif and Kareena’s children, Taimur Ali Khan and Jeh Ali Khan. Kareena Kapoor was also at home during the incident. Upon spotting the intruder, Saif confronted the burglar head-on to protect his family. In his attempt to safeguard them, he was attacked by the thief with a knife.
According to a report by Hindustan Times, Saif’s son from his previous marriage to Amrita Singh, Ibrahim Ali Khan, was the one who rushed to his father’s aid and took him to the hospital after. Ibrahim, 23, does not live with the family but immediately came to Saif and Kareena’s home upon hearing about the break-in. He then helped to take his father to the hospital, as stated by Dr Niraj Uttamani, the COO of Lilavati Hospital.
Crime branch officials also revealed crucial developments about the intruder’s actions. They confirmed that the accused was not captured on CCTV footage in the lift or the main lobby of the building, leading investigators to suspect that the burglar may have climbed all 12 floors through the shaft.
The intruder is believed to have first entered the maid quarters at the back of the house, where he reportedly had an argument with the staff. He was then overpowered and locked in the children’s room. However, the burglar managed to escape from there. Reports also indicate that the safety wall at the back entrance of the building is not very high and only one watchman is stationed there.
As for Saif’s condition, the hospital has confirmed to The Indian Express that the actor sustained a total of six wounds. Two of these are deep cuts, primarily on his back, with one wound near his spine. A minor injury was found on his neck, while the remaining wounds are superficial. Saif underwent neurosurgery, which has now been completed, and doctors are proceeding with the plastic surgery to treat the actor’s injuries.
Kareena’s team has released a statement reassuring the public that while Saif is undergoing treatment, the rest of the family, including their children, is safe. The statement read: “There was an attempted burglary in Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan’s residence last night. Saif had an injury on his arm for which he is in the hospital, undergoing a procedure. The rest of the family is doing fine. We request media and fans to be patient and not speculate any further as the Police is already doing their due investigations. Thank you all for your concern. Team Kareena Kapoor Khan.”
While Saif is now recovering, many celebrities, including Pooja Bhatt, Jr. NTR, and Kunal Kohli, have expressed their anger and concern over the incident.
