Salman Khan’s Radhe in Tere Naam could be described as a present day Kabir Singh but back in the day, the problematic character was widely applauded by the masses. Ravi Kishan, who played the role of a priest in the film, recalled working with Salman during a recent interview and shared that he would stay away from the actor on the set. In a chat with Lallantop Cinema, Ravi was asked about Salman’s demeanour during the film since he was “going through a tough time in his personal life.”

To this, Ravi said that artists are “moody by nature” and when he senses that his co-actor is not in a great mood, he gives them space and that’s what he did with Salman Khan. “On the set of Tere Naam, I would give him space. That character (Radhe) was intense. That’s how Satish Kaushik ji (director) wanted it. Salman was probably lost in the character too. I would stay away from him on the set,” he shared.

Tere Naam released in 2003 and in 2002, Salman was accused in the hit-and-run case that resulted in a man’s death. It was also during this phase that the actor’s relationship with Aishwarya Rai ended acrimoniously amid claims of abuse.

Ravi said that he would meet Salman after pack-up and they became friends. “We used to meet after pack up for dinner or something. Our friendship grew in this time. I am from Bandra, he is also from Bandra. His brother Sohail and I have been friends since childhood. He was aware of me but I was not a star then. And he was a superstar,” he said.

Ravi recalled that after Salman saw his performance, their friendship grew and they are friends to this date. “After watching the film, our friendship grew because that’s when he saw what kind of actor I am. We are still friends. We talk on the phone also. He is a lovely soul,” he said.

Ravi Kishan will soon be seen in the film Laapataa Ladies and Netflix series Mamla Legal Hai.
