Fresh out of the Bigg Boss OTT 3 house, actor Ranvir Shorey is looking forward to spending time with his son Haroon and promoting his upcoming web series, Shekhar Home. The actor emerged as the second runner-up of the Anil Kapoor-hosted show. In this interview with indianexpress.com, Ranvir confesses that if he had known that Shekhar Home, the mini web series that he shot a few years ago is scheduled for release soon, he would have considered not entering the Bigg Boss house in the first place.
When asked if he has the ‘Bigg Boss hangover’, as he promotes his show with Kay Kay Menon, Ranvir says, “Let me put it like this. If this thing was scheduled before I went in, I probably wouldn’t have gone in.”
“Agar aapka kaam release hoga tohi aapko aur kaam offer hoga (only if your work releases, you tend to get more work). So, I was in a chakka-jam (traffic jam) situation. The second reason was, and I have said so repeatedly, that my son was travelling at the time, otherwise I wouldn’t take up a show like this where I can’t spend time with my family. I have done reality shows before, so I thought, ‘chalo kya hai, dekhte hai!’ Dekh liya, waapis nahi jaana! (I thought let’s go and see what happens. Now that I have seen what happens in there, I don’t want to go back).”
Ranvir also shared how the OTT boom has brought better content for the viewers to watch, and better work for actors like him. He said, “Now that the OTT space is consolidating, I am glad that instead of trash, people are going out of their way to seek good material. Because, of course, I want to see all kinds of stories, whether it is — masala, avante garde, or cutting edge. (For me) it should be plausible and convincing to the audience, it is important to see if it is tight on the language of cinema, that is what matters. OTT is offering all kinds of genres, and as a viewer, it is a treat for me to watch different kinds of stories and be a part of some as an actor.”
Ranvir will play a pivotal role in Shekhar Home, a mini-series scheduled to stream on Jio Cinema from August 14. The show also stars Rasika Duggal and Kirti Kulhari among others.
