‘Ranbir Kapoor showed up with expensive vodka’: Imran Khan reveals how he kept his nerves in check during ‘stressful’ awards show
Imran Khan is speculated to be making his acting comeback after a decade with a Netflix film with Danish Aslam, who has previously directed him in Break Ke Baad

The period between 2008-2012 was a rather fascinating time for Hindi cinema. Stars became superstars, and superstars became megastars. Social media began playing a key role in creating narratives around actors and films. This was also the time when Imran Khan was doling out chic and urban romcoms, with many earmarking him for greater success. Of course, things went downhill soon afterwards, and the actor went on a self-imposed hiatus. But Imran has reemerged into the spotlight in recent years, leading many to speculate if he’s planning an acting comeback a decade after his last theatrical release. Imran recently appeared on the Moments of Silence podcast, and he reminisced on the good ol’ times.
Recollecting the time when he walked the ramp with Ranbir Kapoor for a fashion show hosted by Karan Johar, Imran said, “I have never been comfortable with stage shows, ramp walks, etc… Actual models walk with a sense of presence, and confidence, and all I’m thinking of is to not fall down on stage. It was harrowing.” In a photo shared in the interview, we see both Imran and Ranbir bronzed up. “It is a whole weird process to be body-painted. There is a whole lot of flexing and twisting to make the abs look sharper.”
When asked if looking physically fit was a non-negotiable for him, Imran candidly admitted that it wasn’t something that came natural to him. “It is very stressful to look very muscled. I’ve never been that serious about physical fitness till I was forced to take it seriously.”
But leaving the serious topics aside, Imran also spoke about the Bollywood afterparties, especially what went on during the famous Filmfare awards night hosted by him and Ranbir. “Honestly, the awards night was quite stressful because I was less than a year in the industry, and knew that people like Mr Bachchan would be in the front row. It was very scary,” said Imran, adding that Ranbir had quite the ingenious solution to it. “After the dress rehearsal, Ranbir showed up with expensive vodka. Every time we were off the stage, we had a few sips before getting back on to continue with the show. It helped us keep our nerves in check.”
Imran is speculated to be making his acting comeback after a decade with a Netflix film with Danish Aslam, who has previously directed him in Break Ke Baad. However, there has been no official confirmation of the same.
