Rajkummar Rao, as his name suggests, is a king of hearts. On the one hand, the actor continues to enthral audiences with his acting prowess, and on the other, his humility makes him relatable to many. Now, in a recent interview, the Guns & Gulaabs actor shared that people around him are often surprised at how he has retained his middle-class habits.

In an interview with Mashable India, the actor opened up about driving a car for almost a decade. When asked if that’s a quality that he’s carried from his life before stardom, Rajkummar said that he is still quite the middle-class person. “Saara kaam khud karta hu (I do everything myself),” he shared, adding that his colleagues from the industry are often taken aback by these things. The actor said that he books his own flight tickets via websites, gets his boarding pass and even pays his electricity bills.

Main ration order karta hu phone se, ya Patra karti hai (I order my groceries through the phone or Patralekha does it),” Rajkummar said.

During the conversation, Rajkummar Rao also shared that he doesn’t make a ‘conscious’ effort to live a humble life, as he has been brought that way. The National Award-winning actor said that since he was a child, he was quite spiritual. Narrating an incident from his childhood, Rao said that he and his brother would go and help the destitute whenever they could.

Main acting mein aaya kyunki mujhe pasand tha. Yeh mera mera sapna hai… Attitude dunga waisa nahi tha (I became an actor because I wanted to, and it was my dream. I didn’t become an actor to throw attitude),” he shared, adding that his parents have brought them up in a way that he would never hurt anyone.

Rajkumar’s recent crime comedy series Guns & Gulaabs is getting mixed reviews. The actor plays the role of a lovestruck mechanic Paana Tipu in the show, created by Raj and DK. The series also stars Dulquer Salmaan, TJ Bhanu, Satish Kaushik, Vipin Sharma, Gushan Devaiah, Adarsh Gourav and Pooja Gor. Shubra Gupta of The Indian Express reviewed the series and wrote, “Raj and DK’s signature humour is on display but not all jokes land. The primary cast is stuffed with good actors, but not everyone is written interestingly.”
