Rajesh Khattar recently opened up about his relationship with his son Ishaan Khatter and how his divorce with Neliima Azeem affected Ishaan’s life. Rajesh and Neliima got divorced when Ishaan was only five-years-old and Rajesh admitted that such events affect kids deeply. The actor also shared that he was a hands-on father to Ishaan when he was born.
In a chat with Siddharth Kannan, Rajesh was asked why Ishaan speaks about his mother Neliima and his brother Shahid Kapoor in interviews, but usually doesn’t say much about his father. To this, the actor said, “I don’t know how important the media is. Relationships are above the media but I think you should ask him this question, not me. What is more important, is what we have between us. I don’t think it’s very important that he talks about me or not, more important is what we have as a father and son between us.” The actor added that he speaks about Shahid because his older brother has been a strong influence in his life.
Rajesh Khattar added that they are always in touch with each other. “I know what’s happening in his life, he knows what’s happening in my life,” he shared. Rajesh also shared that Ishaan does discuss his relationships with him.
Rajesh and Neliima got divorced when Ishaan was very young and the actor said that it “affected” his then five-year-old son. “When something like this happens, obviously kids get affected and definitely, it affected him. But more important is the end result. I think there has not been a point in Ishaan’s life ever that he didn’t know that his father was just a phone call away,” he said.
