PM Justin Trudeau hypes Diljit Dosanjh, says, ‘In Canada, a guy from Punjab can make history, sell out stadiums’

Diljit Dosanjh has achieved yet another milestone in his career by becoming the first Punjabi artist to fill up a venue at his concert in Canada, Rogers Centre.

There is no stopping Diljit Dosanjh. After having created history at Coachella and appearing on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon in the US, the singer recently became the first Punjabi artist to fill up the venue at his concert tour in Canada. The singer’s latest concert in Canada’s Rogers Centre was fully sold out, creating another milestone. The retractable roof stadium in Toronto can fit as many as 49,286 people. On Monday, the Punjabi singer-actor as well as Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau shared glimpses of the concert. According to the posts, Canada’s Prime Minister made a surprise visit to Diljit Dosanjh ahead of his concert. In a video shared by Diljit, he and the PM can be seen greeting each other with folded hands followed by a tight hug. Soon, the duo was seen posing with Diljit’s entire team, eventually shaking hands with them all.

In the same video, Diljit’s team can be heard saying Diljit’s hook line, “Punjabi Aa gaye oye (Punjabis are here).” They were also seen cheering for the duo. Sharing a video on his Instagram handle, Diljit wrote, “Diversity is Canda‘s strength. Prime Minister @justinpjtrudeau came to check out history in the making: we sold out the Rogers Centre!”

 

Similarly, Justin Trudeau too shared a set of photos along with the singer on his Instagram handle. While the first photo shows the PM and Diljit greet each other. The second photo features Justin greeting Diljit’s team. In the third picture, the duo can be seen involved in a light-hearted conversation.

 

Sharing the pictures, Justin wrote, “Stopped by the Rogers Centre to wish @diljitdosanjh good luck before his show. Canada is a great country — one where a guy from Punjab can make history and sell out stadiums. Diversity isn’t just our strength. It’s a super power.”

Taking to his Instagram Stories, Diljit shared several photos from his historical concert in Canada. One of the pictures featured the banner of Diljit’s concert with the text “Sold out”. Another video showed a packed stadium with everybody enjoying the concert with their phone’s flashlight on.

Excited fans flooded the singer’s post’s comment section with praises. One of them wrote, “Punjabis are making India famous. They are putting them on the map! Punjabi aa gye oye.” Another user wrote, “You are the pride of the whole world, I congratulate you.” Others comments read, “Thank you for representing each one of us on this level”, “This man is creating milestones day by day”, and “Proud moment,” among others.
