Actor Pervien Dastur, who played the role of Seema in Maine Pyar Kiya, has opened up about her experience working with Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan. The actor-turned-air hostess, who is returning to the industry now, revealed that during their collaboration in 1989, she never thought Salman would rise to stardom.

In an interview with Bollywood Thikana, Pervien was questioned about her thoughts on whether she believed Salman would become such a big star. The actor said, “No I did not. Actually I did not. I did not think the movie would be a hit. We had not thought of anything. We just worked together, enjoyed and had a good time.” Talking about working with Salman, she said, “He was fantastic. He was a lovely person, very good co-star, very helpful person. Even now if I meet him, he is very warm.” Maine Pyaar Kiya emerged as a blockbuster and Salman and Bhagyashree became overnight heartthrobs. Helmed by Sooraj Barjatya, the film was released in 1989.

Pervien recalled working with SRK and said, “He was also a very nice person. When we were shooting in Goa, his mother was unwell and he was very disturbed and he had to keep going to Delhi and coming back.” She admitted that she did not think SRK would become a huge star. She added, “Nobody knew back then who would become a star and who would not. We just used to be together acting and having fun.”

Pervien and Shah Rukh worked together in the film Ahamaq, which was based on Fyodor Dostoevsky’s novel The Idiot. The film was launched as a TV mini-series consisting of four parts on Doordarshan in 1991, but it was later showcased at the New York Film Festival in 1992. However, Ahamaq was never released in theatres.
