Navya Naveli Nanda’s recent announcement about securing admission in the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad has become a talking point online. Many are curious to know if Amitabh Bachchan’s granddaughter managed to get the cutoff for her admission in the prestigious institution, which usually ranges between 99-100 percentile. A curious X user recently tagged an associate professor at IIM Ahmedabad and asked, “Prof Promila Agarwal, Navya making to IIMA news on SM is going big. Did she really get those crazy 99.99 percentile?”
The professor was quick to respond. She quote tweeted the post and wrote, “She got a solid CV. Btw, you don’t necessarily need CAT. Irrespective, hats off to everyone for being courageous enough to sign up for rigorous program.” She then hilariously added, “PS: Just like other students, looking forward to her posts cribbing about hard life at IIMA.” Her post was accompanied by a laughing emoji.
Prof Promila Agarwal also shared a link to shed some light on ‘Eligibility criteria’. According to the official IIMA link, the eligibility criteria for Navya’s course, Blended Post Graduate Programme (BPGP), states that the candidate must be a working professional and entrepreneur with a minimum of 3 years of full-time work experience. The minimum age should be 24 (with no upper age limit), and the candidate should at least have a bachelor’s degree/CA/CS/ICWA or equivalent in any discipline (Minimum of 15 years of study).
For admission, the candidate who meets the criteria is required to take the online IIMA admission test (IAT) designed for Online MBA or a valid CAT score or a valid GMAT/GRE score. The final selection happens after a personal interview with the shortlisted candidates.
Navya Naveli shared the news on Sunday by sharing a set of pictures with her batchmates from IIM Ahmedabad on Instagram. She captioned the post, “Dreams do come true! The next 2 years, with the best people and faculty! Blended Post Graduate Programme (BPGP) Class of 2026.”
Navya also took to her Instagram Stories, where she thanked the faculty who helped her crack the CAT/IAT exam. Sharing a photo of herself cutting a cake, Navya wrote, “This is Prasad Sir, who played the biggest hand in coaching & preparing me to crack the CAT/IAT entrance exams. One of the BEST teachers I have ever had the honour of learning from.”
Blended PGP combines learning with periodic on-campus sessions. The program typically spans around 18 to 24 months. It uses a mix of live online classes, pre-recorded lectures, interactive discussions, and case studies.
Navya Naveli Nanda, 26, is the co-founder of Aara Health, a startup focused on improving menstrual hygiene and providing health solutions for women. She is also the host of her podcast, What the Hell Navya, where she discusses feminism and women’s role in society with her grandmother and veteran actress Jaya Bachchan and her mom Shweta Bachchan.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Navya completed her undergraduate studies in Communications from Fordham University in New York City.
