In the aftermath of the #MeToo movement in 2018, numerous women from the entertainment industry spoke out against predators and shared their experiences of sexual harassment. Among them, Tanushree Dutta accused Nana Patekar of sexually harassing her on the sets of Horn OK Pleasss. Responding to these allegations, the veteran actor maintained that he was unaffected by the claims, asserting that nothing inappropriate had occurred on the sets of Rakesh Sarang’s film in 2008.
In a recent interaction with The Lallantop, Patekar was asked if he was angry about Dutta’s allegations of sexual harassment. He replied, “Nahin, mujhe maaloom tha jab aisa kuch hai hi nahin (No, I knew whatever was being said didn’t happen).”
“Mujhe nahin gussa aaya (I didn’t get angry). I am not bothered by it. Kuch hua hi nahi tha (nothing happened), I don’t know what was it about. Kuch hua hota toh hum batate. All of a sudden koi kehta hai aapne aisa kiya, hum kya kehta, humne nahi kiya? Iske alawa kya kehte (I am not bothered by it. Nothing happened. I don’t know what it was about. If something had happened, I would have told. Suddenly, someone says you did this. What do I say, I didn’t do it? What else can I say?,” the actor added.
During the interview, Patekar also opened up about his detachment from the film industry’s issues, stating that he doesn’t “belong to the industry”. “I do not belong to this industry. I am just a professional who works there and returns home. I have no interest in industry matters or what goes on there,” he said.
