Nagin, Jaani Dushman director-producer Rajkumar Kohli dies at 95

Bigg Boss 7 fame Armaan Kohli's father, veteran filmmaker Rajkumar Kohli, passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest.

Veteran filmmaker and producer Rajkumar Kohli, the father of Bigg Boss 7 fame actor Armaan Kohli, passed away in Mumbai on Friday morning after reportedly suffering a cardiac arrest. He was 95.

Armaan Kohli’s friend, publicist Vijay Grover confirmed Rajkumar Kohli’s death. He told indianexpress.com, “Raj ji passed away this morning. He had gone for a bath at 8 am and did not come out for a long time. So Armaan rushed, broke the bathroom door to check and found that Raj ji had had fallen unconscious. He had suffered a cardiac arrest. His funeral will be carried out in the evening today.” The director is survived by his wife and son.

Rajkumar Kohli has directed many big budgeted multi-starrer films like Nagin (1976) starring Reena Roy, Sunil Dutt, Feroz Khan, Sanjay Khan, Rekha and Mumtaz. He then helmed Jaani Dushman (1979) with Reena Roy, Neetu Singh, Sunil Dutt, Sanjeev Kumar, Jeetendra and Shatrughan Sinha. Bees Saal Baad (1988) starring Mithun Chakraborty, Dimple Kapadia, Meenakshi Sheshadri and Vinod Mehra is also among the hits he delivered. In his career as a filmmaker he has helmed more that fifteen films.

Rajkumar Kohli also backed Hindi and Punjabi films as a producer. Some of his production ventures include Gora Aur Kala (1972), Danka (1969), Dulla Bhatti (1966), Lootera (1965), Main Jatti Punjab Di (1964), Pind Di Kurhi (1963) and Sapni (1963).
