Mixed reviews to Bhaag Milkha Bhaag

Rakyesh Omprakash Mehra’s much awaited biopic,Bhaag Milkha Bhaag finally hit screens yesterday,July 12. While the entire team including its actors,Farhan Akhtar,Sonam Kapoor,Divya Dutta and former athlete Milkha Singh himself shared a very emotional chord with the film,critics and the audiences alike have churned out a mixed bag of opinions.

Our very own Shubhra Gupta stresses on the fact that though the story is undoubtedly wondrously inspiring,the director’s portrayal of it seems forced and hard selling.

Though most agreed that Farhan Akhtar gave an absolutely out-standing performance in the film,some said that Bhaag Milkha Bhaag opened as a promising film,however,somewhere along the three hours,the story lost its depth as over-dramatization towards the end and the usual Bollywood masala flavor took over.

Though a few claimed the film did not do justice as a biopic on Milkha Singh,the former sportman watched Bhaag Milkha Bhaag on the eve of its release and was clearly touched by Farhan’s performance,“Farhan has played the part so well,he is almost a duplicate copy of Milkha Singh from every angle. He made me cry.”

Most of Bollywood showered praise on Farhan and the BMB team.

The audience too made sure to give a shout out to the Bhaag Milkha Bhaag team. However,not all reactions seemed positive.

No matter the reviews,Bhaag Milkha Bhaag has clearly created a rage. The film collected approximately Rs. 8 cr on Friday,while the Thursday previews collected around Rs. 1.05 cr. Business is expected to escalate for the rest of the weekend.
