Renowned lyricist and screenwriter Manoj Muntashir has expressed his outrage on social media after the team of Akshay Kumar‘s upcoming film Sky Force failed to credit him for writing the recently released song “Maaye.” Taking to X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, Muntashir warned the movie makers, including Jio Studios, Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films, and Saregama Global, of legal action if the issue is not rectified immediately.

The controversy erupted when Jio Studios shared the teaser of the song “Maaye” on X on Tuesday, crediting only the singer B Praak and music composer Tanishk Bagchi. Although the Sky Force team tagged Muntashir in the caption, they failed to mention his contribution as the lyricist. The caption read, “Maaye – An ode to the bravehearts who gave it all to defend their motherland. Presenting #Maaye, The Anthem of Heroes, out tomorrow. #SkyForce releasing in cinemas this Republic Week, on 24th January 2025.”

Reacting to the post, Muntashir wrote, “Please note @jiostudios, @MaddockFilms @saregamaglobal. This song is not just sung and composed but also written by someone who has given all his blood and sweat to it.” He further added, “Removing writers name from the opening credits shows utter disrespect for the craft and fraternity by the makers. If it’s not corrected immediately, including the main song releasing tomorrow, I am going to disown the song and make sure my voice is heard by the law of the land. Shame. @IPRSmusic.”

Helmed by Abhishek Anil Kapur and Sandeep Kewlani, Sky Force is produced by Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik under the banner of Maddock Films, in association with Jyoti Deshpande of Jio Studios. The film boasts an impressive cast, including Akshay Kumar, newcomer Veer Pahariya, Sara Ali Khan, and Nimrat Kaur. Sky Force is based on a pivotal moment in Indian history – the country’s retaliatory attack on Pakistan’s Sargodha airbase during the Indo-Pakistani air war of 1965, which is remembered as India’s first and deadliest airstrike.
