Kartik Aaryan recalls facing ‘countless’ rejections before bagging first role: ‘Besharam hogaya tha’

When asked what kept him going despite all the rejections, he said, “Aadat hogayi thi, besharam hogaya tha (I had become shameless),” making the audience laugh. Kartik then shared, “Everyday I used to hear this role is not suitable for you. After a point you become numb, but you have to show up every day. Self-belief is very much important, especially when nobody is trusting your ambition. I used to go with the mind that there is nothing to lose. I was over confident and think of it as its their loss for rejecting me. It is important to believe in yourself and work hard. They both go hand-in-hand. I am also someone who used to believe in manifestation. I used to write it up and manifest my goal. Eventually, everything fell in place.”

Kartik Aaryan’s first film Pyaar Ka Punchnama, also starring Divyendu Sharma, Nushrat Bharucha, and Sonnalli Seygall, among others, went on to become a sleeper hit at the box office. Made on a budget of Rs 3 crore, the movie went on to earn Rs 17.5 crore. Kartik also became a fan favourite after his monologue from the film went viral.
