Actors and cousins Kajol and Rani Mukerji reunite every year during the festive celebrations of Durga Puja. This year too, the duo carried forward their family tradition, kickstarting the festivities together. Along with Tanishaa Mukerji, the duo unveiled the North Bombay Sarbojanin Durga Puja pandal. Kajol and Rani also shared emotional moments with filmmaker Ayan Mukerji, remembering his late father, Deb Mukherjee, who passed away in March this year.

For the occasion, Kajol chose a beige organza saree paired with a red blouse, while Rani Mukerji wore a traditional white Bengali silk saree with a black border. Both sisters kept their makeup minimal and looked elegant.

In one of the videos, Kajol and Rani are seen drawing back the curtains of the pandal to reveal the idol of Durga Maa, as the “Durga Devi Stotram Aigiri Nandini” played in the background. Once the idol was fully unveiled, both actors folded their hands and bowed in reverence. They appeared visibly emotional as they caught the first glimpse of the deity.

In another clip, director Ayan Mukerji was seen participating in the Durga Puja festivities. This marked his first celebration of the festival since the passing of his father, veteran actor Deb Mukherjee’s demise. Fondly called Debu by the family, he was a co-organiser of the North Bombay Sarbojanin Durga Puja and was present at the pandal every year.
