Actor Anjali Anand, who plays the sister of Ranveer Singh's character in the film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, spoke about working with the legendary Jaya Bachchan. In an interview, Anjali said that contrary to the veteran's famously stern public persona, she is quite the 'mastikhor (fun-loving person)' on set. She told India Today, "Jaya ji, the opinion that people have of her is completely wrong because she is the sweetest and cutest person I have met. She is like a child. She would come in the morning and would be so enthusiastic. With people around, she is so loving and caring. When anyone says they are hungry on sets, she would literally open all her tiffin boxes and ensure everyone is well-fed. She is very caring.” She added, “I had the best time with her. Doing that scene in front of her, you might think that she must be standing in anger on the other side during the over-the-shoulder shot but she was crying, in fact! Because I was crying during the scene. She is a very warm and ‘mastikhor’ person.” In the film, Jaya plays the domineering grandmother of Anjali and Ranveer's characters, who also happens to be the matriarch of the family business. She is opposed to Rocky's potential engagement with Alia Bhatt's Rani, who comes from an entirely different culture. Anjali's character, on the other hand, learns to stand up for herself after spending her entire life under the thumb of her gruff father and grandmother. Directed by Karan Johar, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani has made more than Rs 73 crore in its first week of release, and has also received positive reviews.
