Despite being busy celebrities themselves, actor Shah Rukh Khan and choreographer-director Farah Khan have never shied away from supporting projects backed by others. The number of films in which they’ve made special appearances stands as a testament to this. Recently, producer Jamnadas “JD” Majethia spoke about the two Bollywood stars’ compassionate nature, highlighting how they lend a helping hand to those in need and are always there for their friends, quite literally. He also recalled landing at SRK’s residence, Mannat, once to promote Khichdi: The Movie (2010).

Calling Bollywood’s Baadshah “a very nice person,” Majethia shared during a chat with Hindi Rush, “I did something very wrong to him. One day, we showed up at his house (unannounced). That was not good, though I did not understand it at the time. I was overexcited. I thought he might look outside and notice us. When he got to know, he helped us promote the film immensely. I will always be indebted to ‘Sir’ Shah Rukh Khan. He is such a gentleman.”

During the chat, he also opened up about his longstanding friendship with Farah Khan, who made a cameo appearance in his Khichdi 2: Mission Paanthukistan (2023). “Farah has been a friend since college. She’s such a fine human being. Woh doston ki dost hai (She’s a true friend). She doesn’t take success to her head,” he said, adding, “She’s very sporty. Whenever you ask her for something, she’d say, ‘Kya karna hai, bol?‘ (What do you want me to do, say?). She knows how to support talent, and she feels very happy.”

Majethia further revealed Farah once told him that before she became a popular YouTuber with her much-acclaimed vlogs, wherein she appears alongside her cook Dilip, she was most recognised for her cameo in Khichdi 2. “She told me, ‘I’ve done so much work. But wherever I go, people recognise me for the one scene I did in Khichdi 2.’ So, she was very happy and came willingly to the Khichdi 2 set, and supported us,” he added.

Majethia also lauded Farah for always giving voice to the voiceless, including her cook Dilip, who’s now a YouTube star along with her. “Farah has used YouTube so positively. It’s a space for the common man,” he said, adding, “Who’s a cook? He’s a servant. But Farah keeps Dilip above even herself. The respect she’s given to Dilip, the whole India has respected that. So that will make a cook want respect. That’s why the common man connected with Dilip. Farah is herself a celebrity, so she invites other celebrities who also find Dilip very cute.”

“Farah knows how to entertain. She’s directed so many huge films. She’s been in the industry for years. The generation before her has been in the movies. So she knows how to present clean family entertainment. That’s why the pairing of Farah and Dilip works so well. She pulls his leg, but also adores him. Dilip is also quite efficient. It was great fun when we did the Khichdi episode with them,” added Majethia. It’s worth recalling that the one-year anniversary special vlog on Farah’s YouTube channel featured the cast of Khichdi, including Majethia.

While Farah’s late father Kamran Khan was a film producer, her maternal aunt Daisy Irani was a child artiste, whereas another maternal aunt, Honey Irani, was a child actor-turned-screenwriter. Farah started off her film journey as an assistant director, but soon turned choreographer. She directed countless hit songs, and even won a National Award for “Idhar Chala Main Udhar Chala” from Rakesh Roshan’s 2003 blockbuster sci-fi film Koi… Mil Gaya.

She made her directorial debut with the 2004 hit Main Hoon Na, and followed it up with Om Shanti Om (2007), Tees Maar Khan (2010), and Happy New Year (2014). Farah recently turned a YouTuber, hosting cooking sessions alongside her Dilip, on her channel. She also invites several celebrities for the same.
