Gumraah trailer: Aditya Roy Kapur, Ronit Roy and Mrunal Thakur promise an intense whodunnit drama
Gumraah is the Hindi remake of the 2019 Tamil hit Thadam, which featured Arun Vijay and Vidya Pradeep. It stars Aditya Roy Kapur, Mrunal Thakur and Ronit Roy in the lead roles.
Gumraah will hit the theaters on April 7. The trailer of the upcoming crime thriller Gumraah, starring Aditya Roy Kapur, Mrunal Thakur and Ronit Roy in the lead roles, was unveiled on Thursday. From the look of it, the film appears to be an intense whodunnit drama with two major suspects, both twins. For the unversed, Gumraah is the Hindi remake of the 2019 Tamil hit Thadam.
In the over two-minute-long trailer, we are told about a ‘well-planned’ murder. Ronit is the lead investigating officer, with Mrunal assisting him. The chief suspect is Aditya’s Arjun Sehgal but there is a twist, as we are told he has a twin. Though Arjun leads an ‘ambitious’ life, there is something suspicious about him. The trailer tries to convince viewers that he is the murderer. His twin is shown to be more carefree and street-smart as well. Now, between the two, who is the murderer needs to be identified.
Ronit Roy is once again donning the ‘khakee’ uniform after acing it in Shootout at Wadala (2013), Boss (2013) and Ugly (2013). Mrunal too has aced intense roles before and Aditya Roy Kapur is coming out from the success of The Night Manager where he was as brooding as he looks here. There is nothing that feels fresh about Gumraah but it might work due to the intrigue that follows a murder mystery.

Directed by debutant Vardhan Ketkar, Gumraah is produced by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series and Murad Khetani’s Cine1 Studios. It will hit theatres on April 7.
The Tamil drama Thadam, which released in 2019, followed the story of a murder investigation by the police, who find two lookalike suspects claiming to not know each other. Helmed by Magizh Thirumeni, it starred Arun Vijay, Tanya Hope, and Vidya Pradeep.
The Indian Express’ review of the film read, “At first glance, Thadam, inspired by real events, comes across as a pretty straightforward urban thriller. But as the layers peel, you discover it is cleverly written—in parts. It has a gripping screenplay and has all the trappings of a good murder mystery.”
