Farah Khan’s Om Shanti Om is remembered by fans for man reasons, but chief among them remains he song “Deewangi Deewangi” that brought almost all of Bollywood on the screen. In her latest vlog, Farah Khan was seen with Manish Malhotra, who did the costumes for Om Shanti Om, and they recalled the making of “Deewangi Deewangi.”

Talking about working together in Om Shanti Om, Farah said, “In Om Shanti Om, Manish had designed all of Deepika’s costumes. I knew that if we needed a look from the 70s, he and I were the experts.” Manish went on to add, “When I saw Naseeb starring Amitabh Bachchan, the song ‘John Jaani Janardhan’ had many stars coming in. I was a diehard fan, and when I saw that movie in the theatre, I wondered if I would ever have the chance to meet so many actors together at a party. Ironically, ‘Deewangi Deewangi’ gave me that.”

Farah added, “Deewangi Deewangi was inspired by there only. Manish was not only a part of the song, but he also came with me to meet every heroine who was in that song. I had enticed the actresses who featured in the song that Manish would make their costumes, and they could keep them after the shoot.”

Surprisingly, that song also initiated a strong working equation between Rekha and Manish Malhotra. As Farah Khan pointed out how Manish developed a friendship with Rekha after the song. “I met Rekhaji there, it was one of the first encounters where I dressed her up. I absolutely love her; she is an obsession,” he said.

On the work front, Manish Malhotra has ventured into film production, and his next Gustakh Ishq stars Fatima Sana Shaikh, Vijay Varma, Sharib Hashmi, and Naseeruddin Shah in important roles. The film will have a theatrical release on November 28.
