De De Pyaar De 2 box office collection Day 5: After the strong success of Shaitaan, Ajay Devgn and R. Madhavan have reunited, this time for a romantic comedy, the sequel to the 2019 hit De De Pyaar De, co-starring Rakul Preet Singh. The film, which released in theatres on Friday, delivered a decent performance over its opening weekend but witnessed a steep drop of nearly 70 percent on its first Monday. However, on Day 5, the film registered a slight recovery, collecting an estimated Rs 5 crore, according to early numbers from industry tracker Sacnilk. This brings its total collection to Rs 44 crore.

On Tuesday, De De Pyaar De 2 recorded an overall Hindi occupancy of 16.53 percent. The day began sluggishly with 7.96 percent occupancy in morning shows, improved to 12.8 percent in the afternoon, held steady at around 16.45 percent in the evening, and finally picked up to 28.91 percent at night. Region-wise, Delhi-NCR, where the film had the highest number of shows (1,392), saw an occupancy of 19.5 percent, while Mumbai, with 830 shows, reported a 20.5 percent occupancy.

Compared with Ajay Devgn’s recent releases, the film’s performance has so far been underwhelming. His earlier 2025 release Raid 2 earned Rs 78.75 crore in its first five days, while Drishyam 2 collected Rs 86.49 crore in the same period. Even Shaitaan performed markedly better with Rs 67.75 crore. The film is also far behind Devgn’s biggest recent sequel, Singham Again, which released around the same time last year and amassed Rs 153.75 crore in its five-day run. However, on the other hand, De De Pyaar De 2 has fared better than some of Devgn’s other recent titles, including Son of Sardaar 2, which made Rs 29.85 crore in five days, and Maidaan, which managed Rs 23.5 crore in the same period.

The sequel is also trailing behind its own original. The 2019 De De Pyaar De had collected Rs 50 crore in its first five days. And when placed against other major releases of this year, the gap becomes more apparent: Akshay Kumar’s Sky Force grossed Rs 75 crore in five days, while the Diwali release Thamma earned Rs 78.7 crore. Still, De De Pyaar De 2 has performed better than films such as the time-travel romantic comedy Bhool Chuk Maaf (Rs 37.25 crore in five days) and the historical  courtroom drama Kesari Chapter 2 (Rs 39 crore). With several big releases like 120 Bahadur, Mastii 4, Tere Ishq Mein, and Dhurandhar, set to arrive shortly, it remains to be seen whether the film can maintain its footing amid intensifying competition.
