Captain Vikram Batra’s brother opens up about attending Shershaah actors Sidharth Malhotra-Kiara Advani’s wedding; reveals why Dimple Cheema never got married

“Sidharth is a very lovely, honest, and soft-hearted guy. It was on December 24, 2016, that my dad and I met Sidharth for the first time. I am really happy looking back at the marriage of those two people. To us, their love story began during the movie shoot. I apologise if I am wrong, but I think this story began when they were shooting in Palampur. I used to meet Kiara and Sidharth often. They once came to our place in Palampur and sought the blessings of our mom and dad. At that time, I sensed ‘love is in the air’ between them. When I looked into their eyes, I could see the chemistry developing,” he said during a chat with journalist Barkha Dutt for Mojo Story.

“When I attended their wedding, I couldn’t help but think of how I could have been at Vikram’s wedding. For maybe two minutes, I wished it was his wedding. I wished it was Dimple there so that her dream of marrying the boy she loved got fulfilled. But, if not the real Vikram’s, then at least the reel Vikram’s. I was very happy for them as they make a lovely couple. To me, the real love of Vikram and Dimple that didn’t happen because of destiny happened in real life,” Vishal added.

He also mentioned that Dimple never got married after Vikram’s martyrdom. “She works as a teacher. Whenever I meet her, I remind her that life’s long, and I ask her to get married. Maybe she wants to hold on to the memories of Vikram. She’s happy. She has joined a few government clubs and enjoys traveling around with the members of those clubs.”

Recalling Dimple and Vikram’s relationship, Vishal said, “The two met during their university days when both of them were pursuing their masters in English. Not many people are aware of this part of his life before he entered the academy. The time they spent together was limited. Soon after they began dating, Vikram had to leave to join the academy. Although they knew each other for four years, they only spent 40 days together. I remember him sharing with mom and dad about her and his desire to marry her. However, they were very young at that time. Nevertheless, they were committed to each other.”
