Bad not a biopic on Charles Sobhraj: Director

However, the film draws similarities with Charles Sobhraj's escape from Tihar jail in 1986.

Director Prawaal Raman has dismissed rumours that his film Bad,produced by Pooja Bhatt,is based on the life and times of notorious criminal Charles Sobhraj.

The film is said to be based on the ‘Bikini Killer’ Charles Sobhraj’s sensational jailbreak from the Tihar prison in 1986.

“Our film is not a biopic,it is a fictional story. It is not on Charles Sobhraj,it is the story of a police officer named Amod Kanth and how he dealt with a jail break case. The film has nothing to do with Charles Sobhraj,” director Prawaal Raman told PTI.

The film revolves around how an inmate escapes from a high security jail and how a police officer deals with the case.

However,it draws similarities with Charles Sobhraj case as he had managed to escape from Delhi’s high-security Tihar jail in 1986. Former Delhi police officer Amod Kanth was handling the case at that time.

“The film is about interpersonal relationship of good and bad. It focuses on police officer Amod Kanth’s case of jail break,” Raman said.

Actor Adil Hussain essays Amod Kanth’s role while Randeep Hooda plays the role of a criminal and Richa Chadha plays Randeep’s love interest in the film.

Meanwhile, director Raman,of Darna Mana Hai fame, has alleged that his crew faced trouble during the shooting of the movie inside Udaipur Collectorate.

“It is a shocking incident that our producer and unit members were abused despite having the necessary permission to shoot inside the premises,” Raman said.

Producer Pooja Bhatt spoke to the higher authorities and the matter was sorted out and now the makers can shoot at the same location. The film will also be shot in Delhi,Mumbai,Goa,Manali and Thailand.

Almost 40 per cent of the film is completed and the makers intend to release it early next year.
