Filmmaker Atlee, who previously shattered box office records with Shah Rukh Khan in Jawan, is making a comeback, this time as a producer for Baby John, the Hindi remake of his Tamil film Theri. Alongside co-producers Priya Atlee, Murad Khetani and Jyoti Deshpande, Atlee has unveiled the first look of Varun Dhawan, who takes on the lead role in the action entertainer.

The promotional video showcases Varun seated on a throne similar to the iconic American TV series Game of Thrones, surrounded by traditional dancers. Holding a bird, Varun exudes an intense, angry look, hinting at an impending battle. The actor shared the clip on his Instagram handle.

Directed by A Kaleeswaran, Baby John, initially titled VD18, stars Keerthy Suresh and Wamiqa Gabbi in pivotal roles. Jackie Shroff and Rajpal Yadav will be seen in supportive roles in the film. S Thaman is credited for the film’s music. The film will hit the theatres on March 15.

In an earlier conversation with indianexpress.com, Atlee shared insights into his decision to produce films, a shift inspired by Shah Rukh Khan. He expressed gratitude for the actor’s guidance, stating, “Shah Rukh sir inspired me, not just as an actor, but also as a producer. I have learnt the craft from spending four years with him. Now, I have started producing films here (Bollywood). I already produced a couple of films in the south, and now I have started producing all over — producing two in Tamil, two in Telugu, two in Hindi.”

Atlee’s Theri starred Vijay, Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Amy Jackson in the lead role. The film received positive reviews and was also a box office success. It grossed Rs 150 crore against a budget of Rs 75 crore and emerged as the second highest-grossing Tamil film of 2016.
