Atlee says he will ‘definitely’ make Jawan 2, reveals why he didn’t ask Vijay for cameo in Shah Rukh Khan film
In a recent interview, Atlee spoke about contemplating making Jawan 2, releasing an extended version on OTT and why Vijay did not have a cameo in the film.

After ruling over the South Indian film industry, Atlee made a smashing entry in Bollywood with Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan. The actioner, released on September 7, is breaking record after record at the box office, earning more than Rs 700 crore globally in 10 days. Now, the celebrated filmmaker, in an interview, confirmed that he would make a sequel to the film, however, he doesn’t have a timeline in mind yet.
In an interview with Pinkvilla, Atlee was asked if he has a character in mind on whom he would like to set a spin-off. He smiled and named Vikram Rathore, Shah Rukh’s senior version in the movie. As for sequel, the director mentioned how most of his films have an open ending but he would only decide on making a sequel if he gets a strong idea.
“See every film of mine has such kind of [open] ending. I never thought of doing a sequel to any of my films. I gave an open arc to it and if something strong comes to me, definitely I will come up with it (sequel). Let’s see,” Atlee told the publication.

Jawan extended version on OTT
Atlee also assured that his team is looking at releasing an extended version of Jawan on OTT. He said that while the film had the perfect ratio of emotions, for streaming, they are considering a different rhythm. He added that he’s been working on it and hasn’t even taken a holiday because of that.
The filmmaker was also questioned about the rumoured cameo of Thalapathy Vijay in Jawan. He insisted that he was clear on not having him in the film as he had bigger plans in the long run. He plans on mounting a big, two-hero film with him and SRK. “There’s a reason why I didn’t ask a cameo from his (Vijay) end. I will write something for Shah Rukh sir and Vijay sir. Both of them have given the best career arc in my life. Someday, I will crack a script for both of them and have them in a single movie,” he said.
When asked if their coming together would mean Rs 1500 crore at the box office, he smiled to add, “It should do more than that.”
