Amruta Subhash says Anurag Kashyap was ‘sensitive’ while shooting sex scenes in Sacred Games: ‘He asked me my period dates’
Amruta Subhash recalled the experience of shooting her first sex scene, with Anurag Kashyap for Sacred Games 2 and said that the director was extremely sensitive during the whole process.

Actor Amruta Subhash, who was recently seen in Konkona Sen Sharma’s The Mirror, in Lust Stories 2, spoke about shooting intimate scenes on camera, and if there is a difference between how male and female directors handle such scenes. Amruta recalled shooting her first sex scene with director Anurag Kashyap, and said that he was extremely sensitive during the whole process.
Amruta recalled that during Sacred Games 2, he called his direction team and spoke to Amruta about her period dates, so they could schedule the shoot of her sex scenes at a time when she was comfortable. She shared with Netflix India, “I did my first sex scene with Anurag in Sacred Games 2. There was no question about being a man or a woman. He was extremely sensitive. He called the direction team. He was the one who asked me the question, what are your period dates, so they don’t schedule the sex scenes around that. ‘You will do it during your periods?’ He asked that.”
Amruta insisted that being sensitive shouldn’t be defined by one’s gender, and added, “This is beyond being a male or a female. He was so sensitive.” Amruta played a RAW agent in the second season of Sacred Games, in which her character turns Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s Ganesh Gaitonde into a spy for the intelligence agency.
Amruta starred alongside Tillotama Shome in The Mirror, directed by Konkona. However, Amruta said that she did not understand her character during the narration. She told The Indian Express, “Sometimes it is best not to understand your characters fully. Only then can you expand as a person. Even if you are saying the line — mujhe mazaa aa rahaa hai — while essaying a character, it frees the actor too. That’s the kind of feeling I had.”
