Amitabh Bachchan works for 16 hours at 82, arrives before everyone on set; reads each scene 50 times, rehearses it 10 times: Makeup artist of 53 years

“I feel extremely lucky to be with Amitabh Bachchan,” the makeup artist shared in an interview with the Reel to Real YouTube channel. “I often tell God that I believe in him and after him, I believe in Amitabh Bachchan. The love and respect he has shown to me and my family are beyond words. Because of his nature, I always feel compelled to do anything for him. If I ever had to fight for him, I would. I wouldn’t even care for my life if it was for Amitabh Bachchan.”

Speaking about Big B’s work ethic, Sawant revealed that the actor has always made it a point to ensure no producer ever incurs a loss because of him. “To prevent that, he always arrives on set at least 30 minutes before call time. He doesn’t adhere to any fixed shift. He will work 16 hours straight if needed and won’t leave until the makers ask him to,” Sawant explained. “This has been his routine since the beginning, and it continues to this day.”

Even after more than five decades in the industry, Deepak shared Big B’s dedication to his craft remains unmatched. “I have known him since Raaste Kaa Patthar,” Sawant said. “His habit of reading a scene more than 50 times is still the same. He rehearses at least 10 times before every take. He doesn’t expect anyone else to join him. He practices alone. And yet, his first take is always his best. Even when a second take is done, the first one stands out.”

Sawant further claimed there has been no star like him. He said, “In 50 years, I have never come across another actor as punctual and disciplined as Amitabh Bachchan. Akshay Kumar, to some extent, follows punctuality, but even he has fixed working hours. He comes at a certain time and leaves at a certain time. Amitabh Bachchan, on the other hand, can work for 16 hours straight and still return to the set on time the next morning. He will not leave till the producer says pack up.”
