Amitabh Bachchan was shocked to see son Vindu partying as he came to condole Dara Singh’s death: ‘My dad said…’
Dara Singh's son Vindu Dara Singh recalled the time when the Amitabh Bachchan turned up to offer his condolences after his father's death, but found the family popping champagne.

Vindu Dara Singh, son of the late actor, recently shared an anecdote from the time and said that after his father’s death, they decided to celebrate his life and legacy by popping champagne. However, that was the moment Amitabh Bachchan walked into what looked like a party, and was shocked to see what was happening.
In a chat with Siddharth Kannan, Vindu said, “My Dad said, ‘When I die, celebrate my life, don’t cry’.” After the veteran actor’s death, his family gathered to mourn the loss. “At night, the whole family was there, sisters, brothers-in-law everyone. We thought ‘Dad said celebrate my life’. So after we bid goodbye to everyone, we started popping champagne, we started partying and saying ‘To dad, to dad’,” he recalled.

When they were in the middle of this, the bell rang and Vindu was shocked to discover that it was Amitabh Bachchan at the door. “The bell rings and we see it’s Amitabh Bachchan. He had come there to offer his condolence. He must have thought what is happening here?” he recalled with a laugh. Amitabh was dressed in white and had come at night as he had been shooting the whole day.
Vindu further recalled, “He asked ‘what is happening?’ I said ‘Dad asked us to celebrate his life’. He gave a thumbs up and asked where is mom. I pointed him towards her. He went and sat with mom but he was shocked to see us”.
When Dara Singh passed away in 2012, Amitabh Bachchan tweeted, “Dara Singh ji passed away this morning. A great Indian and one of the finest humans… An entire era of his celebrated presence gone!” His son Abhishek Bachchan also tweeted, “Dara ji passes away. Had the honour of working with him in Shararat. The most gentle and kind man. Really looked up to him. Will miss him. He was always so loving and gave the best hugs. Remember meeting him for the 1st time while dad was shooting Mard. Was convinced… That he truly was the only human who could not be pulled apart by even airplanes.”
