Alia Bhatt mistaken for Aishwarya Rai by New York paparazzi at Met Gala, internet calls it revenge for ‘Jhandeya and Tommy’

Alia didn’t seem to be fazed, and continued up the red carpet with a smile on her face. The video was shared on Reddit with the caption, “A case of mistaken identity – Western media calls Alia Bhatt -‘Aishwarya’ at Met gala. Aishwarya always will be famous.” Reacting to the video, one person wrote in the comments section, “Paps are same everywhere.” Another wrote, “American paps taking their ‘yeh shakira hai kya’ revenge.” A third person commented, “‘Jhandeya ikde ikde’ ka badla le rhe h.”

Recently, when the Hollywood stars Tom Holland and Zendaya came to India to attend Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre’s inauguration, some members of the Indian paparazzi mispronounced their names. While some called Zendaya ‘Jhandeya’, others called Tom ‘Makdi Man’ and ‘Spiderman’.

Alia wore a dreamy ball gown for her Met Gala debut. She was joined by designer Prabal Gurung on the red carpet. Alia explained the inspiration behind her gown and shared on Instagram, “I have always been fascinated by the iconic Chanel brides. Season after season, the genius of Karl Lagerfeld shone through in the most innovative and awe-inspiring couture.” She also wrote, “I wanted to do something that felt authentic (hello, pearls!) and proudly made in India.”
