After the trailer release of Alia Bhatt‘s upcoming film Jigra, many netizens began drawing comparisons between the Vasan Bala directorial and Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal. Today, at a press meet in Delhi, Alia addressed these comparisons and discussed whether there’s any professional competition between her and Ranbir.

Alia said, “I wouldn’t say there’s any competition between us.” She continued, “I feel very fortunate that my husband (Ranbir Kapoor) is also my best friend and a wonderful actor. We often discuss our films and scenes with each other. I talked about Gangubai Kathiawadi and Jigra. Every time I had a confusion, I would discuss it with him and he did the same with me for Animal.”

On the comparisons between Jigra and Animal, she stated, “I know people have been comparing the two, but there really aren’t many similarities. It’s not just about Animal or Jigra; a common theme in many films is doing something for a loved one. It’s a genre in itself, and many movies have been made on these lines. So aside from that one aspect, there aren’t any direct similarities between the two films.”

Animal, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, released last year. The film, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna, earned an impressive ₹917.82 crore worldwide. Animal follows the story of Ranvijay’s troubled relationship with his father. In contrast, Jigra focuses on the bond between a brother and sister, played by Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina. The film is set to hit theaters on October 11.
