Shahid Kapoor and Ali Abbas Zafar launched the trailer of Bloody Daddy on Wednesday. Starting June 9, the actioner will stream on Jio Cinema. At the event, the Bollywood star was questioned about his massive remuneration, which he shrugged off with a hilarious response. He also quipped how the director was getting more than him.

A reporter quizzed Shahid about how reports suggest that he charges Rs 40 crore for a film. “Arre de do mujhe yaar. Main aapki picture kar leta hu (Please give it to me. I will do your film too),” the actor said before Ali cut in, “Kam bola hai aapne. Baad mein milenge yeh bahar aapko (You quoted a lesser amount. He will meet you outside).”

Surprised by his comment, Shahid Kapoor smiled to say, “Main kam bola toh yeh tambola. Iska price pehle pata karo jaa ke (You should check his fees first).”

Shahid Kapoor and Ali Abbas Zafar also spoke about how they have known each other for long and had been planning on making a film. At the same event, when someone asked the actor whether he didn’t want his film in theatres, he shared that they were always clear about having an OTT release. When asked about the monetary deal they signed with Jio, he replied, “Humme se koi aapko dukhi dikh raha hai? Lag raha hai ke kahan phas gaye? (Is anyone of us looking sad here? Do we look like we are stuck at a bad place)?”

The team did not discuss the finances but claimed that Bloody Daddy was designed for an OTT release. Ali shared that every film has a cinematic language and the platform gives them a chance to be honest with the project. “The film deals with drugs, blood, and gore, and it was important that we kept it on the same ground. We didn’t want to tamper it to suit it for theatres, and thus decided to have a direct-to-digital release,” Ali said.

Shot amid the pandemic, Shahid Kapoor revealed that the film was filmed in a record 36 days. He added that given they had to work in a restricted environment leading to higher production cost and efforts, Ali brought down the number of working days. He also shared that he has known Ali even before he became a director, and was looking forward to collaborating with him.

Also starring Rajeev Khandelwal, Ronit Bose Roy and Sanjay Kapoor, Bloody Daddy will stream free on Jio Cinema starting June 9.
