Team Adipurush is ready for round two. On the occasion of Ram Navami, a new poster for the upcoming mythological epic, featuring Prabhas as Lord Ram, Kriti Sanon as Sita and Sunny Singh as Lakshman, was unveiled. The “divine” poster features the trio, along with actor Devdatta Nage bowing down to them as Bajrang.

“The film carries forward the virtue of Prabhu Shri Ram that entails dharma, courage and sacrifice,” a press statement read. Though there were reports that the film would be further delayed, the new poster reiterated that the film’s release date remains June 16. The film’s teaser was unveiled in October last year, and was immediately subjected to extreme backlash for its substandard visual effects. Adipurush was eventually moved from its intended January release to June 2023 owing to additional VFX work.

In an interview with indianexpress.com, Kriti Sanon had opened up about how the reaction to the teaser threw her off as it wasn’t expected. “I think the makers took it in the spirit, where I think any sort of feedback that’s coming from people should be heard. You just listen to and see how much of it is true and sort of make those corrections if needed. The fact that they took it in a good spirit and the fact that the intention of everyone associated with the film was very, very pure. It is not just a film for us, it is a bit more than that. It’s a film that everyone is extremely proud of, without even knowing what the results are going to be.”

The film’s editor, Ashish Mhatre, however in an interview to Times of India had said the team didn’t make any significant changes. “We have not made any alterations in the film post the criticism, we did the film which was planned already… We are following the same way from where we started the film because we have not made any mistake in the first place, that needs rectification,” he was quoted as saying.

Adipurush, produced by T- Series, Bhushan Kumar & Krishan Kumar, Om Raut, Prasad Sutar and Rajesh Nair of Retrophiles, will also be released in IMAX and 3D. The new poster was presented in three languages, English, Hindi and Telugu. A part of the caption read, “Mantron se badhke tera naam Jai Shri Ram.” The film also stars Saif Ali Khan as Ravana.
