
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday announced that the nationwide lockdown has been extended till May 3. His decision was welcomed by several celebrities, who have been offering support to the government by spreading awareness about the coronavirus pandemic.

So far, Akshay Kumar, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Hrithik Roshan among others have made significant contributions towards coronavirus relief efforts. This, apart from several celebrities encouraging people to practice self-isolation.

PM Modi’s announcement on Tuesday came as the number of coronavirus cases in India crossed the 10,000 mark including 339 deaths. Seven Indian states — Maharashtra, Odisha, Punjab, West Bengal, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Telangana — have already announced lockdowns till the end of April.
Sai Pallavi wished her fans on Vishu and tweeted, "May we help one another in every way we can during these testing times. We’re forever indebted to the selfless service of the health care personnel, police n Anna’s/Akka’s who help us in keeping the city clean."
Apurva Asrani tweeted, "Don't shame celebs who share their workout videos. We have been sedentary for 3 weeks & working out is our best defence against #COVID. It boosts immunity, ups the mood & improves lung function. Sitting down & getting fat will only make us sitting ducks. Workout videos inspire."
Wishing fans on New Year, actor-turned-politician Rajinikanth asked fans to follow guidelines given by the government to fight coronavirus. He mentioned, "This too shall pass."
Nimrat Kaur tweeted, "These last 21 days stay valid and effective only with patience and discipline every single day of the next 19 coming up. Each decision at every individual level matters like never before."
Anushka Sharma took to social media to state how disturbed she is feeling after reading about people’s behaviour against coronavirus patients and doctors. In a note, the actor wrote, “Deeply disturbed reading some reports about how coronavirus patients and even some medical professionals, who are in the frontline taking care of such patients, are being discriminately treated. At times like this, it is important that we care for each other and are extremely sensitive to the suffering of others. Let’s not treat fellow citizens with disrespect and stigma. It’s the time to stay united and stand united."
Actor-turned-politician Hema Malini encouraged fans to discover themselves. Ayushmann Khurrana is deeply distrubed seeing people attack security personnel amid coronavirus crisis. The actor shared a note that read, “I feel terrible reading about the heinous attacks on cops and security personnel that is happening across the country. The police force is risking their lives every single day to keep us, our families and our friends safe and I condemn such attacks on them.”
