Although Bollywood is home to several power couples, Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan remain the most celebrated among them. Despite the passage of 18 years since their marriage, their relationship continues to make headlines, even in gossip columns. Recently, several unfounded reports had surfaced, claiming that the couple was on the verge of separation due to marital discord. However, neither of them ever directly responded to such rumours. Nonetheless, Abhishek has now put the speculations to rest once and for all with a sweet gesture that highlighted the deep bond he continues to share with his wife.

While accepting his first Filmfare Award for Best Actor for his performance in director Shoojit Sircar’s I Want to Talk (2024) recently, Abhishek delivered an emotional speech, thanking Aishwarya and their daughter Aaradhya in particular for supporting him in pursuing his dreams, even when it demanded them to make a few sacrifices. “To Aishwarya and Aaradhya, thank you for allowing me to go out and follow my dreams. I hope that by winning this award, they see that their sacrifices have been one of the main reasons I stand here today,” he said.

A visibly emotional Abhishek added, “I want to dedicate this award to two very special people. This film is about a father and a daughter, and I want to dedicate it to my hero, my father, and to my other hero, my daughter. Thank you so much, I cannot express what this means to me.” Recalling his cinematic journey, the actor noted, “This year marks 25 years in the film industry, and I cannot remember how many times I’ve practised a speech for this award. This has been a dream, and I’m just so touched and humbled. Receiving it in front of my family makes it even more special.”

Earlier this year, while promoting his film Kaalidhar Laapata, Abhishek Bachchan commented on how “negative news” affects him and his family. During a chat with ETimes, Abhishek said that all such rumours upset him. “You’re not me; you don’t live my life.” Pointing out that it was very convenient to sit anonymously behind a computer screen and write nasty things about others, he emphasised that such people should realise they were hurting the targets as well. He added, “No matter how thick-skinned they are, it affects them. How would you like it if somebody did that to you?”
