Abhishek Bachchan comes from an illustrious family, and while it may appear to many that being born into such a celebrated lineage comes with perks, it also presents its challenges, particularly when it comes to carving out one’s niche. In a recent interaction, Abhishek opened up about his efforts to build a tangible legacy for his daughter, Aaradhya Bachchan, beyond the realm of creativity. He also spoke about his deep respect for his parents, Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan, whom he equates to God.
In a conversation with CNBC-TV18, Abhishek was asked if he is religious. He responded, “I don’t know if I am overtly religious. I have my equation with God, but before I go to God, I go to my parents. I think they should be the first people you lean on. To me, they are equivalent to God. I am what I am because of my family. I’m a very family-oriented person. Everything I do, I do for my family, and they are my go-to people.”
Abhishek also expressed gratitude to his grandfather, poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan, for establishing the Bachchan surname, which continues to hold a special place in the hearts of millions. “I am proud of the surname that my grandfather bestowed upon us, and I will work to ensure the continuity of the love and respect we receive because of the work he did. I hope my daughter and the coming generations respect that too,” he said.
When asked what the Bachchan legacy means to him, Abhishek shared, “My grandfather was a poet, my father and mother are actors, I am an actor, and so is my wife. We are a creative legacy, but if I can leave behind something tangible, I think that would be a valuable contribution to the family.”
He further explained his vision for creating a legacy beyond creativity, saying, “I think I should work towards leaving something tangible for my daughter, apart from creativity. That’s why I look at the work I do beyond acting as an endeavour to achieve that whether it’s through sports or other businesses that I get involved in.”
