Actor Aamir Khan grew up in a film family as his father Tahir Hussain was a producer, and his uncle, Nasir Hussain, was a renowned filmmaker. One might imagine that since Aamir grew up in a family that made money via creative arts, they would be liberal in their approach but that wasn’t the case. Aamir has previously said that his father was strictly against him working as an actor, and forced him to give up tennis because his education was suffering. In a new chat, Aamir shared that his father would slap him and his brother when they were kids. So much so that the impression of his father’s ring would get imprinted on his face which would get embarrassing for him at school.

In a chat shared on the YouTube channel of Zee Music Company, Aamir shared that he learned empathy from his mother, Zeenat Hussain, as she always had a very sensitive reaction towards everything. He recalled that once, when he came back after winning a tennis match, his mother wondered how the other boy’s mother must be feeling since her son had lost the match. Aamir shared that in this moment, he learnt a valuable lesson about empathy, and he still carries this anecdote in his heart. Aamir shared that it is because of his mother that he is attracted to sensitive films.

Aamir shared that even as kids, when he and his brother Faisal would create a mess in the house, they never heard their mother raise their voice on them. “I have never heard my mother raise her voice. Me and Faisal would have a lot of fun as kids so she would just say ‘Aamir, aap aisa karenge? (Aamir, will you do this?)’ This was the maximum that she would scold us,” he said and added that she has always been very “soft.”

But, his father was just the opposite. Aamir shared with a laugh that his father would slap the kids and since he would slap with the back of his hand, Aamir would get an impression of his father’s ring on his cheek. He recalled, “My father and my mother were very different personalities. Faisal and I would get prints of his hand on our faces.  We would get slapped with the back of his hand, he used to wear a ring and that ring would leave a mark on our face. So the next day, when we would go to school, it would be very embarrassing,” he said. Aamir’s father died in 2010 at 71.
