Anurag Kashyap’s daughter Aaliyah says she got hate for getting engaged at 22: ‘I know we are young, but I don’t really care’

Aaliyah said that she was certain that Shane was ‘the one’ when she first met him and “there was no doubt in my mind that he was going to be the one that I would end up marrying.” She added, “I don’t really care if people have hate about us marrying young. I know we are young, but I don’t really care.” Shane shared that he doesn’t “see the issue at all” and finds it “stupid that people make such a big thing (of this).”

Aaliyah accepted that this might not be the right path for every 20-year-old, and she doesn’t recommend it to everyone as “marriage is a huge decision,” but added that she and Shane feel ready, and are happy about their decision. “I understand some people questioning the age because it is young, I won’t deny it. I always said I would never get married before 28. I was also one of those people who said 22 is too young to get married,” she said.

The couple got engaged in Bali and said that as soon as they got back, they called their parents, who were very excited about the news. Aaliyah shared that Shane had already spoken to Aaliyah’s parents to get their blessing and his parents were also aware of the proposal.

Aaliyah and Shane revealed that they will be getting married in 2025, but will have two engagement parties in August.
