Of success parties and forgetful Deepika Padukone: Kangana Ranaut is miffed

After somewhat snubbing Amitabh Bachchan from 'Piku's success bash, Deepika Padukone has managed to hurt her contemporary Kangana Ranaut.

Deepika Padukone, amitabh bachchan, Kangana Ranaut, Deepika Padukone Kangana Ranaut, deepika kangana, deepika kangana friendship, deepika kangana friends, deepika padukone amitabh bachchan, deepika big b, piku, tanu weds manu returns, piku success bash, deepika padukone piku, kangana ranaut tanu weds manu returns Deepika Padukone’s ‘Piku’ success bash only saw the reunion of Karan Johar and Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who had a war of words over the casting of ‘Shuddhi’ and ‘Bajirao Mastani’.

Not only delivering hits after hits, Deepika Padukone is also on another spree, and this, mind it, is far from being a hit. The dimpled actress has boarded the “hurting” train and after somewhat snubbing Amitabh Bachchan from ‘Piku’s success bash, she has managed to hurt her rival (we don’t say it) and contemporary Kangana Ranaut.

For the uninitiated, when Deepika’s recently released ‘Piku’ became a blockbuster, almost half of the industry was invited for the success bash hosted by the actress. Ranveer Singh, Shraddha Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Arjun Kapoor and Irrfan Khan among others were the attendees. However, the one person, who not only the photogs missed, but also the guests at the party did, was ‘Piku’s Bhaskor Banerjee – megastar Amitabh Bachchan.

Since nobody could think of Deepika forgetting inviting her movie’s co-star Amitabh Bachchan to the bash, it was assumed that Big B must have been under the weather.

But later Deepika herself confessed she didn’t invite Big B to the bash, though she wanted to. She called it a ‘technical error’ and said, “It was a major technical error on my part and by the time it came to my notice it was too late and I’ll never forgive myself for it.”

When asked whether she called Big B up to clear her part, she replied, “I am so embarrassed that I have not even had the courage to call him after that. I did eventually text him, couple of days ago but I have still not had the courage to pick up the phone and even explain myself to him. But I will. It was a major technical thing.”

While we didn’t understand, what ‘technicality’ might have gone wrong that caused the oversight, we certainly hoped that all remains well between ‘Piku’ and her ‘Baba’.

This is also because the Indian film industry, where there are no permanent friends or foes, relations are broken or remade at the success bashes. Deepika Padukone’s ‘Piku’ success bash only saw the reunion of Karan Johar and Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who had a war of words over the casting of ‘Shuddhi’ and ‘Bajirao Mastani’.

But close on the heels of Deepika ‘not inviting’ Amitabh Bachchan for the success bash arrived Kangana Ranaut’s statement. Now we know, Kangana is Kangana – straight forward that is, and she calls a spade a spade. So, when she was asked why she didn’t invite her ‘contemporary’ Deepika to the success bash of her “100 cr” film ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’, she said she had invited Deepika, but she never got a response from her.

“I did extend an invite to Deepika, but I never got a response. I have always been supportive of my contemporaries and will continue to be. However, it would be nice if I got the same support. It is hurtful when you don’t get the kind of support you expect,” Kangana was quoted as saying.

And we do remember that Kangana has been upset with Deepika in the past too for not getting any congratulatory calls or messages in person from her or on phone, despite her dedicating the Best Actress Award to Kangana.

One can still ponder over the possible reasons of the snubs by Deepika, we suggest, change the ‘technical’ settings on your phone, Piku.
