UGC NET 2024: Exam begins today; reporting time, admit card details

UGC NET 2024: The National Testing Agency (NTA) which conducts the University Grants Commission-National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) will start the re-exam today, August 21. Earlier the UGC NET exam was conducted on a single day on June 18 in a pen and paper mode. 

However, after the paper leak controversy, the Agency decided to re-conduct the exam from August 21 to September 4 all the subjects. This time, the exam will be conducted in computer-based mode. Over 9 lakh candidates registered for the June session examination. Here are some of the guidelines that students need to follow on the UGC NET exam days.

UGC NET: Guidelines for candidates 

– The candidates appearing for UGC NET must bring the following documents on the day of the exam.

   i) Printed (coloured or black and white) copy of the UGC NET admit card issued on NTA website. If a student forgets to bring printed copy of the admit card, they won’t be allowed to appear for the exam. No soft copy will be entertained.  

   ii) Passport size photograph of the candidate (as uploaded on the application form)

  iii) PwD certificate as issued by authority, if claiming the relaxation under PwD category

– The candidates must come 2 hours before the exam for proper frisking and completing the registration process. Security checking will be stopped 30 minutes before the start of the exam.

– Students must take their seats as soon as the examination halls are opened so they don’t miss any instructions given by the invigilator. The seats will be offered by the invigilator according to exam and roll number.  

– The aspirants must find and sit on the seats allotted to them, failure in this may lead to cancellation of candidature or any other disciplinary action.

– Candidates need to show the printed copy of admit card when demanded for verification, cooperation is expected.

– Students must check the question paper subject to be the same as filled in the application form and inform the invigilator if there is any disparity.

– Bringing any material which may give unfair advantage to anyone will be counted under unfair means practice and all such cases will be handled by the guidelines of the NTA.

– No retest will be held for any candidates who fail to be present on the examination day allocated.  These students can re-appear for the exam during its December session. 

–Students are not allowed to engage with other participants during the exam shift hours.

Misbehaviour with any of the NTA staff or candidates at the UGC NET exam venue is also considered as a malpractice.

NTA has already issued the exam city intimation slips for all the exams days to facilitate the students in making travel plans toward the exam cities.
