Two arrested in fake certificates racket bust

A fake documents and certificates racket has been busted here, according to the local police. Two persons have been arrested in the matter. The group was allegedly involved in forging fake certificates such as ECNR stamp, SSC and HSC marksheets and transfer certificates.

The accused have been identified as passport agent Mohamamd Kamruddin and Abdus Sattar Osman Al Zahwari, police said.

“Based on a complaint filed by a resident of Yekeenpur village, who was cheated by Kamruddin by non-issuance of ECNR (Emigration Check Not Required) stamp despite taking Rs 35,000 from him, we arrested the passport agent. He confessed to the crime,” Karimnagar Superintendent of Police (SP) D Joel Davis told reporters here.

Kamruddin admitted that he, along with Hyderabad resident Abdus Sattar Osman Al Zahwari, would issue fake certificates such as ECNR stamp, SSC and HSC marksheets, transfer certificates, the SP said.

Zahwari was immediately arrested and a large number of fake certificates including SSC, HSC and transfer certificates of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharastra, Rajastan, Delhi, Gujarat states were seized from his possession, Davis said.

Police also recovered rubber stamps, certificates of various educational institutions, material used for generating Aadhaar cards, driving licenses, identity cards of various institutions, printer, scanner from Zahwari’s possession, he said.

Zahwari is a computer graphic designer who had previously worked abroad, the SP said, adding that the number of fake certificates issued by the duo and the number of people they have duped would be ascertained during investigation.

The accused were today produced before a local court in Karimnagar,  police added.
